The goal of my graduation project was to find a way to show society the poem-like character of songtexts and provide an incentive to read them even without knowing the music. For realizing the project I've chosen a record of the american singer-songwriter Jason Molina.
Book'let
One plan to raise the perception of songtexts was to carry them out of musical context, so they were not allowed being just attachments in small booklets any longer. They had to be read independently, maybe even before listening to the music.
I wanted to push the reader to pay more attention to the words.
To provide an incentive for interacting with them I included notepads at the end of the book, to give the possibility to write down thoughts and foreign words.
Logo
The projects is named after the first record of Townes van Zandt, 1968.
I placed the text between staves, to recall the importance of text in music.
Type
Since the artist recorded the songs in human isolation, I used insulating tape to create an uppercase letter set for headlines.
